1971 Plymouth GTX

Kit: Monogram 1971 Plymouth GTX 1/24 Scale

It was love at first sight, I caught a somewhat beat-up Plymouth Satellite driving through town, and I followed after it for a little while just to see what the hell it was.

This is the closest thing to it in a model form, with the GTX modifications.  I find them a bit distracting but I guess at the time I just went with it. I love the basic shape of this car!

Man they don’t make front ends like this anymore..

I modified the car to have working suspension. I did a much better job on the front end than the rear.

The front has actual hinges and springs, while the rear is basically me thinning out the rear leaf springs so they are softer. This resulted in them breaking in like 5 places.

Front end has epic squish and wheel clearance.

The DIP switch in the engine bay actually matches the hideous blue so it doesn’t stick out too much. I think I wired the switches backward (note the OFF label) but oh well.

There are 9 light bulbs installed, and 2 battery casings in the trunk.  I’m rather impressed with my trunk job, since it snaps on and off just like a real battery case.

All Lit up!

Not sure if this was the right place for tail lights but when I made this the Internet wasn’t so great.. had to make a guess.

This car has since joined the great plastic scrapheap to make room for much better cars.. R.I.P.
