I created this car from a Hot Wheels ’86 Monte Carlo SS which had a dramatic hood scoop, different front end, and oversized rear wheels. Once I finished converting the body I made a mold and cast the bodies in resin.
I enjoyed learning and researching the Monte Carlo when making these cars and the card. Really if you dig into most cars and their history there are some awesome innovations every year.
I used some Bare Metal Foil to get the chrome paneling just right.
Making a stock car still requires quite a few decals – turn signal lights, badges, license plates.. it all adds up!
Removing the massive hood scoop and resizing the rear wheel well was time consuming but well worth it.
