Kit: AMT 1971 Dodge Charger 1/25

I completed this kit around 2001, box stock as intended. Everything went together really well and it has somehow managed to hold up over the years.

This was one of the first times I used DupliColor automotive touch-up paint on a model. I was surprised how quickly it dried and how smooth the finish was.

All in all it only took a few weeks to finish the model. AMT Makes pretty good models most of the time. Not always the most detailed but generally you can expect them to look nice when finished.

The hood is removable (no hinges) and you get a basic engine layout. I painted all the details but didn’t think to add wires, etc.

Your basic model chassis. I don’t see too many cars upside down so I went with their suggestions on painting here.

I did my best to make the woodgrain look as authentic as the actual car.. which as I undertand had fake woodgrain. ’60s and ’70s cars aren’t known for their amazing interiors.

Nicely detailed casting on the interior. Tricky to get that vinly look but I think it was flat black paint and a wipe of WD-40 to get the semi-gloss look.
